Activities will take place on 10 and 11 September in Puerto Montt and Castro, respectively.
The Technological Programme for the Development and Sustainable Climbing of Japanese Ostra Cultivation (Pacific oyster), promoted by the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) with the support of Corfo, invites to participate in the workshop “Scopes of the Technological Program for the Cultivation of the Japanese Ostra Resource in Chile”, which will be held on September 10 and 11, in the Los Lagos region.
The activity seeks to bring together sectoral authorities, aquaculture producers and researchers in a space of dialogue and collaboration to project the future of the Japanese Ostra as an alternative of productive diversification in the country.
During the two days, the attendees will be able to learn about the main results achieved by the PTEC Ostra Japan, together with participating in bodies for analysis and debate on the challenges and opportunities presented by this resource in national aquaculture. The programme includes presentations on small-scale regulations, funding lines, productive experiences, among other development-related issues of the crop.

The workshop will be attended by key institutions in the sector, including SUBPESCA, SERNAPESCA, IFOP and INDESPA, as well as representatives of productive and academic organizations linked to the field.
With its presence in eight regions of the country, the Japanese Ostra PTEC has consolidated itself as a strategic initiative that promotes innovative, sustainable aquaculture with local identity, opening new opportunities for economic and social development for coastal communities.
The event is free and open to producers, professionals, students and the public interested in learning more about the contribution of the Japanese Ostra to the diversification of aquaculture in Chile.
