The high turnout recorded after the closure of the submission period led the Organizing Committee to exceptionally extend the registration with preferential prices. The deadline will remain open until 15 October, while the submission of abstracts is already closed.

The XI National Aquaculture Congress, which will take place between November 30 and December 2, 2026, at the Diego Rivera Theatre in Puerto Montt, continues to progress towards a new edition marked by high participation from the aquaculture community.

After the closing of the submission period, the Congress received more than 200 abstracts, from researchers, students and professionals linked to different areas of aquaculture. This figure reflects the interest of the community to participate in an event that aims to bring together scientific knowledge, sector experiences and new perspectives regarding the challenges and opportunities of the activity.

In the face of this high turnout, the Organizing Committee decided to exceptionally extend the preferential rate registration period until 15 October 2026, providing a new opportunity for those who submitted their works to finalise their registration.

It is important to note that this extension applies exclusively to registrations with preferential prices. The period for submitting abstracts has already ended and there is no new extension planned for the submission of papers.

The new edition of the Congress also includes the confirmed participation of Prof. James McPhee Torres, Vice-Rector of Research and Development at the University of Chile, who will join the event bringing together representatives from the scientific, academic, productive and public sectors linked to aquaculture.

A meeting in a context of high activity for aquaculture

The 2026 Congress edition will take place, also, during a period of intense activity for the sector, with four parallel events linked to aquaculture that will be held around the same dates.

The high turnout we have achieved reflects the interest of the aquaculture community in having spaces for meeting, exchange and discussion. Receiving more than 200 abstracts, especially in a period when various events linked to the sector will take place, shows that there is great interest in participating in this new edition of the Congress and sharing knowledge and experiences that contribute to the development of aquaculture"noted Dr Jurij Wacyk, president of the Organizing Committee of the XI National Aquaculture Congress.

The Congress programme will address nine thematic axes, including nutrition and nutrition; animal health and welfare; genetics and biotechnology; digital technology and innovation; sustainability and diversification; reproduction and larvoculation; safety and added value; governance, extension and community linkages; and small-scale aquaculture and repopulation.

During three days, Puerto Montt will become a meeting point for the national and international aquaculture community, with a program that includes scientific presentations, conferences and different forums for exchange and discussion.
