The organization of the event, to be held at the UCT and with the important support of the PTEC-INVA of Corfo, delivered the final version of the program.
The next Thursday 12 and Friday 13 de September, in the Oscar Cartagena Auditorium of the Fiftieth Building of the Juan Pablo II Campus of the Catholic University of Temuco (UCT)in the Araucanía region, the expected international seminar entitled Functional and sustainable ingredients for optimal nutrition in fish production, in a scenario of climate change, water scarcity and demands for new nutritional inputs.

This initiative, organised by the Fish Nutrition and Physiology Laboratory of the School of Natural Resources through the Food Production Research Center (NIPA-UCT), has the key support of the Interdisciplinary Water Institute (IIA - Rukako), the company Antarctic Salmon and from the innovative Technological Program for the Local Production of Nutritional Inputs for Aquaculture (PTEC-INVA), promoted by the Chilean Production Development Corporation (Corfo).

The event, of character and whose call has been such that it is already about to complete all available quotas, will provide a space for debate and presentation of innovations in fish nutrition – especially Salmonids–, placing the emphasis on themes of functional ingredients and sustainable solutions to the challenges of climate change and water scarcity.

The manager of the PTEC-INVA, Dr Daniel Nieto Díaz-Muñoz, highlighted the relevance of this international seminar for the aquaculture industry: "This instance is an invaluable opportunity for connecting science and innovation with the needs of the productive sector, promoting nutritional ingredients that not only improve the health of fish, but also contribute to the sustainability of the cultivation of hydrobiological species and also vegetables for use in aquaculture in Chile and the world."

By the same token, the Dr. Patricio Dantagnan, who is professor of the UCT, co-founder and director of the Laboratory of Nutrition and Physiology of Fish, in addition to active member of the NIPA of the same house of studies, emphasized that we are living times in which aquaculture must urgently adapt to new realities.

“Our goal – then – is to share advanced knowledge on functional ingredients that can respond to the demands of a constantly changing environment,” Dr. Dantagnan.
Both experts will be part of the group of leading exhibitors who will address the main challenges and advances in sustainable fish production on Thursday and Friday.
