For the second season new species cultivated in Chile will be addressed, such as the ostion of the north, escape, serious, red conger, Japanese oyster and, again, the production of salmonids – the main aquaculture industry in the country – will be a central axis, with participation in three of the eight chapters.
After the success of his first season, which reached more than 2.3 million viewers, those responsible behind the documentary series “Viva Water: The future of the sea” officially announced the start of their second season, which will be broadcast by MEGA 2 from April next year.
Driven by the aquaculture engineer Tomás Vigneaux, “Viva Water” has been consolidated as the first audiovisual production dedicated exclusively to showing Chilean aquaculture from a productive, technological and social perspective. The series seeks to bring the general public closer to this key activity for the economic and sustainable development of the country.

In its first season, composed of eight chapters, the documentary addressed species such as mussels, algae, sturgeon, oysters, turbots and salmonids, highlighting innovative practices, environmental commitment and the social impact of this industry.
According to official figures provided by the television house, the series managed to exceed 2.3 million viewers in its first season by considering the days of premiere and repetitions, confirming the high interest of the public to know more about this productive activity.

“We are very happy with the results of the first season, as we receive positive messages from communities, companies and MEGAMEDIA. We feel that we have fulfilled the objective of making known a very important activity for the southern macrozone of the country, but very unknown by authorities and people from the rest of Chile. For the second season we will address new species cultivated in Chile, such as the ostion of the north, fled, seriously, Red conger, Japanese oyster and, again, the production of salmonids — the country's main aquaculture industry — will be a central axis, with participation in three of the eight chapters. We will seek to make known the technologies and positive stories of the impact that the activity has had on its surroundings, in this second season with a narrative not only descriptive but experiential with people, challenges and stories,” said its director and driver Tomás Vigneaux.

The first season had the valuable support and participation of important companies of the sector, among them: Biotruck, Cooke Aquaculture Chile S.A., Gripship SpA, LATAM Cargo, Mowi Chile, OXZO S.A., SalmoClinic, Salmones Austral, Salmofood Oficial and Sudvet Corp.
As in the first season, as before the premiere of this new season (April 2026), there will be an official launch event and avant premiere, to which will be invited representatives of local and national authorities, guilds, companies of the field, workers of the industry, coastal communities and media. The date and place will be informed in due course through the official production channels.
