"It is relevant that this new regulatory body be legislated for the public and in conditions of full transparency," emphasizes the presidential message.

The Fisheries and Aquaculture Undersecretariat (Subpesca) highlighted this Wednesday 3 January in its online site the start of the processing of the project that creates a new Fishing Law for Chile.

This proposal seeks to establish a fisheries regulation that arises from a transparent debate and distributes the resources of the sea according to scientific criteria. The project also comes to do justice to the Postponed world of artisanal fishing, recognizing the not only economic but also cultural value of this activity," the Subpesca highlighted.

Among the background of the message signed to the Chamber of Deputies by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font, together with the ministers related to the subject, it is emphasized that "it is important that this new body of legislation be legislated for citizens and in conditions of full transparency", in contrast to what occurred during the drafting of Law No 20.657amending the current General Fisheries and Aquaculture Act (LGPA).
