Technical teams from Sernapesca and the Subsecretariat of the Armed Forces met to speed up the analysis of operations and evaluation of expiration dates of salmon farming centers.
With the aim of integrating the information handled by the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) and the Subsecretariat for the Armed Forces (SS.FF.AA.), within the framework of the agreement signed between both institutions in October 2024, technical and computer teams from both organizations met to speed up the analysis of operations and evaluation of expiration of salmon farming centers.
From the findings of the audit carried out by the General Comptroller of the Republic, whose results were delivered in 2024, and which involved matters of competence of both organizations, mechanisms have been reviewed to optimize their internal processes, paving the way for a new phase of work focused on achieving interoperability between both institutions, which will allow for a more efficient and effective analysis, incorporating all the precedents required for the study of expired files.
Both services we have made important advances to improve our processes, and now we will address the integration of databases to be able to optimize the resources and time we dedicate, on the one hand, to the operational analysis carried out by SERNAPESCA, and on the other hand, to the expiration evaluation developed by the Subsecretariat for the Armed Forces, with which we also aim to make transparent to users the status of their files commented Mónica Rojas, Deputy Director of Aquaculture at Sernapesca.
In this way, the professional teams of both institutions will be able to access data from the National Aquaculture Register (RNA), operation records and health management records, which include mandatory, voluntary and extended deadlines, extensions or other legal coverage related to the inactivity of the centers, which are managed in different systems within both Services, optimizing the data collection time. background, and therefore, of the analysis.
The coordination between both institutions is fundamental for the proper functioning of the system for processing the expiration procedures of salmonid concessions, which goes hand in hand with an IT development that allows speeding up the processes, since, for the first time, the information from the two organizations will converge on a single shared platform, which is undoubtedly an advancement in terms of timely response. on behalf of the State. This will allow better fulfilment of the obligations that both the Undersecretary for the Armed Forces and the SERNAPESCA have as their responsibility, responding in a more timely manner to what is required by the citizenry,” said Galo Eidelstein Silber, Undersecretary for the Armed Forces.
The integration of databases will eliminate duplication in the work of reviewing the background of each file, which currently creates a greater burden on the teams of both Services, and slows down the work that each agency has to do. This interoperability will allow early detection of possible lapses and a more complete reading of data when an expiry procedure has already been initiated, optimizing processing times.
