With Salmobench Digital, Aquabench consolidates itself as a technical reference in Chilean salmon farming, combining the depth and coverage of its data with a user experience aligned with current digital standards: web access, direct interaction, frequent updates and the ability to export information for own analysis.

A new step in the modernization of the productive analysis of national salmon farming was finalized Aquabench with the launch of Salmobench Digital, a modern web platform that replaces the traditional sending of reports in PDF and Excel spreadsheets with an interactive system with filters, visualizations and direct download of the main productive indicators of the salmon farming industry.

The tool, available in www.salmobench.com, brings together in one single site all the information modules of the production cycle that the consultancy has, starting in this phase with the fattening stage. Its objective is to facilitate timely, quick and secure access to the relevant information for an appropriate decision-making.

Rodrigo Esquivel, development manager of Aquabench, explains that the idea is to facilitate access for users. "With this platform, customers can manage their information needs themselves." Instead of requesting specific reports, they can log in directly when needed, explore historical information, filter by periods, areas and variables, as well as export the data to Excel for their own analysis. This change aims to achieve greater speed, traceability and reliability. in the use of information, reducing manual intervention and standardizing internal data validation processes, which will contribute to improving the decision-making process," he states.

The executive explains that currently Salmobench Digital has two modules. On one hand, it is Benchmarking, focused exclusively on salmon producers who provide their data as a requirement to access the platform. Here, the productive results of centers and companies are compared for the three species cultivated in Chile, through key performance indicators and rankings that allow to evaluate the performance relative of each actor.

Today, the system has information from the 17 companies that produce salmon in the fattening stage in the country, representing 100% of the national production. These companies can view their own results and compare them with the industry average and distribution, both currently and in historical series, always under strict confidentiality safeguards.

A key aspect of the design is that companies and centers are coded, without visible names in any section of the platform. "Each company knows its own codes, but not those of others. In this way, the identity of the participants is protected and sensitive information is avoided, a point considered strategic by Aquabench and by the competition lawyers who have reviewed and validated our model," clarifies. Rodrigo Esquivel.

The second pillar of Salmobench Digital is the module Industry Information, designed both for producers and for input suppliers, service providers, financial institutions and other entities that require key productive and sanitary information of the sector, but in an aggregated format. "Suppliers and other actors can find in this module a consolidated and reliable source to understand the productive dynamics of the sector, without the need to integrate multiple scattered sources," says the executive.

Among the nearly twenty variables available in this module are Number of smolt entered, weight of smolt entered (g) and harvest; initial biomass, final biomass and harvest; entry weights and harvest weights, among others. The platform also allows to follow weekly the evolution of mortality and its causes, as well as the abundance of Caligus (juveniles, ovigerous females, mobile adults and totals), with multiple filters by region, geographic area and period, and even comparisons with the same weeks of previous years.

Aquabench is already working on the incorporation of new variables, such as feed consumption, number of active centers and closed cycle productivity indicators, such as RPL, FCR, SGR, GF3, Kg/smolt among others, as well as a future exports module, built on customs data. The latter will allow access to information on exported volumes, destinations and types of products, thus integrating a commercial layer into the vision. productive one that offers Salmobench Digital today.

Update and historical data

The platform is fed by information that producers report to Aquabench on a predefined frequency. Production data is updated monthly and becomes available on the 15th of each month, while mortality and Caligus abundance are updated weekly. This allows users to have an almost real-time reading of what is happening in the growing stage. Regarding the historical data of Aquabench – which It dates back to 2008, the consultancy defined for its clients access to the last decade, that is, from 2015 onwards.

One of the attributes that Rodrigo Esquivel highlights about Aquabench, which allows it to differ from other information services, is the origin and treatment of the data. Salmobench Digital is built from information that the company collects directly from producers under formal confidentiality agreements that authorize the use of the data in an aggregated form when shared with third parties.

"Additionally, the design of the reports, the method of aggregation and the levels of disaggregation available have been reviewed and validated by lawyers specialized in competition law, with the aim of ensuring that market rules are not violated nor is the exchange of sensitive information between competitors facilitated," emphasizes the executive. For Aquabench, this legal backing is a key factor in providing reassurance to both the producers as well as external users of the platform.
