About SCHACUI

The Chilean Aquaculture Society (SCHACUI) is a non-profit organization that brings together professionals, academics, researchers, and representatives of the public and private sector in the national aquaculture area, with the aim of promoting sustainable development, scientific research and public-private collaboration on aquaculture in Chile. The National Aquaculture Congress is its main meeting point and is organizes itinerantly with different universities or institutions throughout the country, which are selected by their partners and board of directors.

"For the SCHACUI it is an honor to have this year as a co-organizing institution to the University of Chile, represented by the Faculties of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary and Peculiar Sciences, which have been developing a large and important research and development work in our aquaculture, both at the level of the large salmon industry, as well as at the level of the new species with which our country faces the challenge of productive diversification. The presence of the U. de Chile in both scenarios, productive industry (south zone) and diversification-oriented R & D (northern macrozone), in salmonids and marine fish, respectively, speaks alone of the interest and commitment of this study house for the development of diverse aquaculture present in the different regions of our country,” said Vélez.
