Only two projects, out of 56 nationally, were awarded capital through the Semilla Expande call of the Corporation for the Promotion of Production (Corfo) in the Los Lagos region. One of them is led by Situación Portuaria, a startup that developed a web platform aiming to visually present the current situation of all the bays throughout Chile.
"A relevant fact is that in the normal course of projects, they first obtain a Seed Start from Corfo and then a Seed Expand, but due to the solidity and projection of our application, we were able to access this last one directly," explained the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Situación Portuaria, Carlos Fiebig.
The digital tool shows the historical restrictions of the bays, graphs, data tables and meteorological information, which transforms it into a powerful tool for planning and operations in the aquaculture industry of southern and austral Chile.

Our system allows to alert the user in a timely manner when the conditions of a bay change and download a screenshot (screenshot) from the official SitPort portal, which is captured automatically every ten minutes. Currently we integrate the official information of the Directemar (General Directorate of the Maritime Territory and Merchant Marine) Windy.com and OpenWeatherMap", specified Fiebig.
The CEO of Situación Portuaria highlighted that the venture has the mark of a company led by women, as a significant part of the founding team is Carolina Urrutia, who together with Camilo Vargas, "have been key to achieving the deployment and reach we have had in recent times, which has opened doors for us to work with important companies in the aquaculture sector," explained the representative of the regional startup, who also announced supported by the renowned business incubator and accelerator of the University of La Frontera (IncubatecUFRO).
According to the founder of the startup, they have recently applied for the Emprende 2023 Award from BancoEstado and are considering participating in the ACME 2023 Award against the Sustainability Challenge.
"Finally, but not least, we recently joined the Aquaculture Directorywhich we consider an important step to make ourselves known in the industry," said Carlos Fiebig.
