"The key difference that has made the PSP group a world leader is its patented technology," said the general manager, among other things.

PSP Solutions, Chilean group that develops environmental mitigation solutions based on aeration technologies for water in productive industries that carry out their processes in the sea, consolidated itself in 2023 as one of the leaders in this field, and not only in Chile but also at a global level.

During the past year, the group composed of the companies PSP Solutions and LOW O2 implemented 61 projects both in Chile, North America, the Middle East and Europe for the aquaculture and desalination industries, contributing to the competitiveness and sustainability of these sectors. Specifically, they were 48,440 linear metres of microbubble barriers laminar flow installed and more 36 emergency projects installed in different fish growing centres.

Harmful, jellyfish and desalination algae

In the aquaculture industry, particularly in salmon farming, the challenge remains large because of the El Niño phenomenon which has had an impact on an increase in harmful algae blooms (FAN, also known as blooms or more colloquially as a red tide) in southern Chile, in terms of quantity, frequency and intensity, increasing the risk of massive mortality.

Through its mitigation systems, PSP managed to protect more than 40 million fish, which translate into close to 200,000 tonnes that they will succeed in completing their productive cycle.

On the other hand, the group managed to position itself in the desalination market with its systems of laminar flow microbubbles, protecting the intakes o Seawater capture towers against natural phenomena such as FAN and jellyfish swarms, increasing the reliability and availability of desalination plants, as well as mitigating the effects of marine life suction at the seawater harvesting stage.

Submarine noise

In terms of development, PSP obtained new validations of their systems of barriers to underwater noise in an average of 20 dB, in a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz, with Instituto de Acústica de la Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) y con el CTN (Centro Tecnológico Naval de Murcia). These validations certify the technology for use in the face of various sources of high energy anthropogenic noise, such as piles, thunderbolts, marine perforations and dredging, among others, which affect marine fauna, mainly the marine environment and the environment. whales.

"The key difference that has made the PSP group a global leader is its patented technology and that every project we address is a unique combination of engineering, technology, experience and field work, which considers both the industry and the particular characteristics of the areas where it is implemented," he said. Bruno Lópezwho is the founder and general manager of PSP Solutions.

López added that they are looking to offer more applications and add like this more value with the use of their technologies. "For this, in 2024 we plan to continue investing heavily in new developments in conjunction with universities, institutes, research centers, laboratories and other entities", concluded the executive.

International fair

The PSP group will be present at the next edition of AquaSur, the largest aquaculture fair in the southern hemisphere, and where they will present their technology based on nature and advances in the stand F-12.

This will be a unique opportunity to explore first-hand the sustainable development solutions that are driving the vanguard in various industries.
