Among the main results is the leadership of salmon farming in exports, as well as generating important benefits in the regions where it operates.
Recently, the Association of the Salmon Industry of Chile A.G. (SalmonChile) published its VIII Sustainability Report, whose data correspond to Operation 2022.
In the document, the union highlights the payment of a total $13,382 million (equivalent to $14.1 million) for commercial and aquaculture patents, in addition to payments to suppliers by US$1.920 million.
Another important milestone is the 19% decrease in antibiotic use rate in relation to 2021, reaching 341 grams per thousand kilos of salmon harvested.
"This version highlights the leadership of salmon farming in exports, as well as important economic contributions in the regions where it operates. It also reports on the good performance of health indicators in the sector, since During the past year, the partner companies of the guild reported a lower use of antimicrobials and a progressive increase in non-pharmacological alternatives to reduce the use of antiparasitic agents. Also, for the first time the report includes the result of the measurement of carbon footprint of Chilean salmon based on data from the Clean Production Agreement (PLA) of which these signatures participate," SalmonChile summed up in a press release that you can read in full by clicking here.
