The event, organized by the accelerator Këtrawa, brought together programmers and developers to design solutions with artificial intelligence applied to real challenges in the aquaculture sector and its community linkages.
SalmonChile, along with its partner companies Marine Farm and Invermar, participated in the Cross-Industry Hackatón 2026 with a strong commitment to open innovation, technological development and territorial sustainability. The ten-hour work marathon, held in Puerto Montt, brought together developers, programmers and startup founders, who applied artificial intelligence tools to solve challenges operational and relationship issues raised directly by the productive industry.
The event -unprecedented in the regional capital- was driven by the accelerator Këtrawa together with SalmonChile, Huawei Cloud, Minnovex and the Puerto Montt City Council, adding the support of Corfo. The event allowed to directly connect the needs of the aquaculture sector and the ocean economy with the growing entrepreneurial ecosystem in the south of the country.

The general manager of Këtrawa, María José Urrutia, valued the initiative and highlighted the region's potential to generate innovative solutions with an impact on the industry. "We are convinced that this region has enough talent to solve industrial problems. To mature this ecosystem we need synergy, opportunities and to highlight what the entrepreneurs from Los Lagos are capable of," she said.
Collaboration between industry and entrepreneurs
During the meeting, the director of Communities of SalmonChile, Felipe Díaz, highlighted the importance of creating collaborative spaces for co-creation. "Today we are supporting developers who, through artificial intelligence, seek concrete solutions to the challenges of salmon farming. Two of our partner companies, Marine Farm and Invermar, made data and real challenges available so that, during this event, the teams they can develop innovative proposals that contribute to an increasingly sustainable industry, committed to the environment and communities. We are very happy to be part of this initiative, because it also highlights the local talent of the Los Lagos and Los Ríos regions. We want these solutions to be transformed into concrete projects, and hopefully scale across the entire industry," he said.

"Well, we are very happy as Marine Farm to be able to participate in this first hackathon that is held in the Lake Region and our interest was to present a challenge, in this case the area of community relations, which was very well received. The programming companies They were very excited about the idea, looking for more information to be able to develop a proposal that is interesting and that is a solution not only for us as a company, but in general for the industry," he said.
Similarly, the Sustainability Manager of Grupo Invermar, Lizandro Labraña, highlighted the synergy generated in the technical meeting. "The truth is we are very excited because the challenges that the world of technology presents today and the challenges that cross a dual industry make this ecosystem that is being generated here very favorable to be able to resolve some issues that are common to the industry. So very, very happy, there has been a lot of enthusiasm from the technical team working with the Hackathon teams, so delighted to be able to participate in this activity," he specified.
