Cooke

In the same context, the company Cooke Aquaculture Chile was notified this week by the Undersecretary for the Armed Forces (FF.AA.) of acceptance of the application submitted thirteen years to relocate their breeding centres "Explorators" and "Huillines 1"both located in the Aysén region, in the immediate vicinity of the Laguna San Rafael National Park.

In addition to specifying that the future concession for relocation was granted in the estero Cupquelán, to the southwest of Punta Morales, in the commune of Aysénthe general manager of the Chilean subsidiary of the Canadian-born company, Andrés Parodi, said that although the procedure took more than thirteen years, "we are satisfied that it has been completed and that Cooke is the first aquaculture company that manages to obtain this concession to relocate our operations which, as it is accredited, are not found in protected areas."

Subsequently, Andrés Parodi said that as a salmonid producer they value this relocation "as the fruit of collaborative public-private work, in which they combined the disposition of our company and the support of authorities like the Undersecretary of Fisheries (and Aquaculture, Julio Salas Gutiérrez), who promoted the granting of a new concession to allow stability and legal certainty of our management".

"This makes a difference in style with other state entities with environmental competencies, which have shown a more aggressive and confrontational attitude against the salmon industry," the executive helm of Cooke Aquaculture Chile closed.
