Mandata - among other things - that breeding centers with intensive production system present their plans for recovery and research.
On Wednesday 24 January, the seminar entitled "Implications of the Law 21.410: Measures to prevent the deposition of organic waste, research and fund recovery in aquaculture concessions", where the Undersecretary for Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subsecretariat) reviewed, along with the salmon industryAct No. 21.410 and the forms for the submission of recovery and investigation plans prior to entry into force this Sunday 28 January.
As has been done by various public bodies, including the Office of the Comptroller-General of the Republic. (CGR), the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and the Sub-fishing itself, it has been emphasized that one of the main environmental impacts in the execution of aquaculture projects, especially intensive cultivation projects, is the deposit in the medium (funds of the water bodies granted), of the food not consumed and misdeeds emitted by fish. A deposit that generates the increase of organic matter and the possible appearance of anaerobic zones.

In this context, and in fulfilment of the mandate of Law 21,410, “it is a priority that crop centres with intensive production systems, which are in operation, should be able to present their recovery and research plans”, stressed the Sub-Pesca.

Thus, Article 74b of the General Act on Fisheries and Aquaculture (LGPA) establishes the obligation for the holder of the concession of aquaculture or who has a right to such concession for the pursuit of the activity in it, "to adopt measures to ensure that the avoid or reduceas appropriate, the organic waste deposit at the bottom of the concession."
For this purpose, a recovery plan and a seabed research plan in the concession area should be submitted to the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service. (Sernapesca).
In turn, as laid down in Act No. 19,880, the administrative procedure must be carried out with transparencyin a way that allows and promotes knowledge, contents and foundations of the decisions taken in it.
Therefore, with the aim of improving the conditions of information required by the parties concerned for the delivery of the recovery plan and the investigation plan, Subpesca ordered the publication of the corresponding submission forms, for which the Exempt resolution No 160 2024.
This resolution, together with these forms, can be downloaded from the Undersecretary's website:
