Reports project the production to date and its compliance with the maximum limits authorized in their environmental permits. The aim is for companies to implement preventive measures to avoid overproduction at the end of their cycles.
The Environmental Superintendence (SMA) issued the first mass notification of the year 2026 addressed to holders of 263 Salmon Growing Centers (CES). This action is part of the Environmental Compliance Strategy for Salmon Growing Centers (CES) which was initiated in September 2023, with the aim of strengthening environmental compliance through prevention, thus ensuring that the industry does not exceed its productive limits.
The notifications were sent via email to the owners of centers located in the southern area of the country: 98 in the Los Lagos Region, 120 in Aysén and 45 in Magallanes. Each report includes an estimate of the current production compared to the maximum allowed limit in their respective Environmental Rating Resolution (RCA).

Regarding this, the Superintendent of the Environment, Marie Claude Plumer, stated that: These reports inform the holders about their production level as of the date in relation to what is allowed in their environmental permit. The objective is to promote environmental compliance and act preventively to avoid the sector incurring in overproduction.
Innovation and data
Mass notifications are supported by a preventive control work that uses technological tools for production estimation. This tool allows identifying the centers that are currently in cycles, providing key information so they can adjust their operations before the end of the production period.
For this analysis, updated data from the Aquaculture Inspection Information System (SIFA) of SERNAPESCA is used. The report sent to each holder includes: identification of the Inspectable Unit and center code (RNA), geographic location, maximum production limit according to its current RCA and estimated production as of the date.
It is important to clarify that these reports correspond to preventive estimates carried out before the annual compliance verification, once the respective production cycle has ended.
