During 2024, more than five thousand families in the Aysén region were able to access almost 13 tonnes of fresh salmon and derivatives with a 70% discount compared to market prices, bringing the product closer to communities where the company operates.
The program of Good Neighbour Sales it is an initiative that was born in 2019 and takes place at different times of the year, it is part of the Corporate Sustainability Strategy of Mowi as a way to contribute to the nutrition and good diet of the region's residents, making available the salmon and selling it at a reduced and preferential price for all older people.
With two successful editions held during 2024 in Puerto Aysén, Repollal, Melinka and Puerto Chacabuco, the sale by Mowi benefited nearly five thousand people, who gained access to high quality products at preferential prices, consolidating its commitment to the communities where it operates.
In total, more than 12,600 kilograms of fresh salmon were distributed, 3,200 tins of salmon in water and 4,700 packs, achieving a significant impact on the food well-being of families in the region, especially the elderly, who enjoyed discounts of up to 70%.
Álvaro Pérez, Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager at Mowi, highlighted that this initiative is a fundamental part of the commitment of all those who work in the company, and emphasized that "it allows us to stay connected with our communities in the territories where we have productive operations, to dialogue with them and, based on their visions, design joint strategies to promote the well-being of Aysén. At the same time, it gives them the opportunity to access this food of quality and with great nutritional value.”
Neighbors have also deeply appreciated this opportunity. Rosa Navarro, president of the Community Union of Older Adults of Aysen, said that “it is a great help for the community since not everyone has the opportunity to consume an essential food like salmon. Through this proposal, Mowi reaffirms its commitment to the residents of Aysén, being able to deliver a rich and healthy food by welcoming the demand of the population. Subsequent sales are expected to continue to strengthen its social support plan for neighbouring communities.
