• The event, which will take place between 23 and 24 November at Parque Araucano, will bring together more than 16,000 people around seafood products from the country's fishing and aquaculture.

It is estimated that in Chile, seafood consumption is about 16.8 kg per person, a relatively low figure when compared to countries such as Japan, with about 70 kg; or Peru with about 30 kg. The above is not without notice if one considers the long coastline our country has or that local industries, such as fishing, salmon farming or mussel farming, are productive leaders at a global level.

Exactly, with the aim of increasing the consumption of marine products among Chileans, on November 23 and 24 of this year it will be held again the Gastronomic Seafood Fair, Fegamar. Unlike previous versions, this version brings together two leading producers; Wings Productions, which also produces various television programmes on aquaculture, fishing and consumption of seafood products, and Geoiman in charge of making the previous 3 versions of Fegamar.

Regarding this, the executive producer of Wings Producciones, Paula Alvarado, comments that the event "is a great opportunity to promote the brands and products of Chilean companies, as well as their processes and the contribution they make to Chile as a country with great aquaculture-fishery potential."

It can be highlighted that Fegamar is the only marine products fair in Chile and where attendees can enjoy seafood, family fun, live cooking with renowned guest chefs, direct sale of fresh and frozen seafood products, as well as learn more about aquaculture and fishing through educational talks and in the more than 50 stands available in 9,000 m2 from the open-air exhibition hall.

"Previously, the fair received around 16,000 visitors. For this year, and given the various initiatives we are carrying out, we expect to receive more than 18,000 lovers of seafood products. We believe this event will highlight our fisheries and aquaculture sector, and we will be able to educate and inform the community about sustainable aquaculture, responsible fishing, and the importance of consuming seafood," added. Alvarado.
