Under the ABC concept of Sustainability, the company seeks to deepen its commitments and concrete actions in terms of sustainability.
The company Multi X presented its Renewed ESG Strategy under the title "The ABC of Sustainability" aligning their objectives in three essential dimensions: Animals, Biosphere and Communities.
In this context, and facing global challenges such as climate change, population growth and the urgent need to produce food in a sustainable way, farmed salmon is positioned as a solution to feed the world in a nutritious, efficient and environmentally low-impact way. It is a superfood, with a carbon footprint lower than any other animal protein.
The Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager of the company, Francisco Lobos, explained that "in Multi X we understand that aquaculture is part of the solution to feed the future and that we have the challenge of showing and communicating the sustainability of our sector, with pillars and actions that are easy to understand. This is why we propose a strategy as simple as ABC, with ambitious goals and clear metrics to monitor and report our progress."
The ABC of Multi X
The executive highlighted that at Multi X, sustainability and innovation are corporate values and that from these foundations "we work to build a responsible company that seeks excellence and connects with the world around it, strengthening its contribution to the economic and social development of the regions where it is present and supporting the incorporation of technologies and solutions that add value to the salmon farming chain."

In this line, and under the new concept of the ABC of Sustainability, each letter represents a pillar of the strategy and, in turn, groups initiatives and metrics to follow:
The letter A represents Animals and their welfare, in order to ensure the optimal condition of the fish in cultivation. All health and productive indicators associated with these purposes are grouped here, with actions such as: reducing the use of antibiotics; maintaining zero lethal interactions with marine mammals surrounding operations; and improving the survival of fish.
The letter B of Biosphere, brings together those initiatives whose aim is that operations coexist harmoniously with the ecosystem. This pillar includes all emission standards, impact controls, raw materials, circularity, environmental performance, among others. Among the proposed goals are: to guarantee 0 fish leaks, sustained results more than a decade ago; to reduce their carbon footprint through energy efficiency projects across the value chain; and to continue with the goal of Zero Waste to Landfill. In 2024 Multi X achieved 100% in its processing plants and 96% throughout the value chain.
The Letter C of Communitiesseeks to promote collaboration with the different links of society, with the aim of building together a future and sustainable development for all who inhabit the regions of southern Chile. As part of this pillar, the company is challenged among other things to: deepen its open door policy, which concluded in 2024 with 160 visits to its facilities. In addition, it will continue to deepen initiatives such as the Projects, which sponsored 23 projects in 12 locations in southern Chile last year; and continue to develop micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as suppliers of industry.
“This new strategy allows us to communicate simply with our stakeholdersshare the way we work and regularly report on our goals, progress and targets regarding our operational priorities,” said Lobos.
