On behalf of DIRECTEMAR, Lieutenant Commander Manuel Fuenzalida, national coordinator of the project, presented the presentation "Chile in the IMO and the underwater noise radiated by maritime transport", highlighting the role of Chile as a member state of the IMO and the importance of commercial maritime transport.
On the other hand, on behalf of the MMA, Cristóbal Toledo, a professional from the Department of Noise, Light and Odours, who is also the national focal point of the project, gave a presentation on the advances and future challenges in the management of underwater noise control in Chile, highlighting the importance of information gathering and inter-sectoral coordination as strategic pillars of the management carried out by Ministry in this field.

In addition, the forum featured presentations from leading pilot countries India and Argentina, Project Consultants and representatives of national stakeholders, including ARMASUR A.G., SAAM Towage and Acoustica Marina.
The objective of the GloNoise Partnership project is to establish a truly global stakeholder partnership, with a strong focus in developing countries, to address the important environmental problem of underwater noise generated by maritime transport. The project brings together stakeholders in a global strategic partnership, which will function as a public-private platform for sharing experiences, facilitating the dialogue on emerging science and progress in the control and mitigation of underwater noise, and encourage multi-stakeholder participation.
