A trade mission to Ecuador seeks to promote the internationalization of regional companies, strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting the sustainable development of the export sector.
Enterprises Kura Biotech, Keepex, Innovex and Pesquera La Portada represented the Los Lagos region in the commercial mission organized by ProChile within the framework of AquaExpo Guayaquil 2025, the most important technical-commercial shrimper event in Latin America, which took place in Ecuador between 20 and 23 October.
“The commercial mission in AquaExpo Guayaquil reflects ProChile’s continued effort to diversify exportable supply and connect the aquaculture innovation providers of the Los Lagos region with the main markets in the continent. This type of institution allows our companies not only to present their technological solutions, but also to establish strategic alliances that open new markets, strengthen cooperation between Chile and Ecuador and promote internationalization,” said Ricardo Arriagada, regional director of ProChile Los Lagos.
In turn, the Commercial Director of ProChile in Ecuador, Susan Rojas, stressed that “the good positioning of Chile in general, and of the Los Lagos Region in particular, is widely valued by the different actors of the Ecuadorian shrimp industry. The knowledge and experience developed in our country constitute the great difference offered by Chilean companies and is precisely what is sought in this type of meetings. In addition, this link was enhanced by previous meetings based on the participation of Ecuadorian companies in ENEXPRO, an instance that has contributed significantly to strengthening bilateral cooperation and trade opportunities in the aquaculture sector.”
For María Jesús Villalobos, representative of Pesquera La Portada, “participating in AquaExpo Guayaquil allows us to strengthen commercial ties, know closely the needs of the sector and present our products made from Chilean salmon by-products such as flour, oil and protein concentrate. It is also a very enriching instance to share experiences, open new opportunities for collaboration and project our presence in a market with great potential.”
For his part, Richard Alarcón, Sales Engineer at Keepex explains that “this space allows us to understand in the field the particularities of Ecuadorian farms, adapt our solutions to their operating conditions and strengthen the relationship with our local distributors. At the strategic level, this participation contributes directly to our international projection, as Ecuador is a global benchmark in the cultivation of Shrimp. The validation of our technologies in this market enhances the positioning of Keepex as a reliable supplier of advanced oxygenation solutions for aquaculture,” he said.
"Our participation in AquaExpo Guayaquil 2025 reinforces the strategy of regional expansion, bringing our technology closer to new commercial partners, laboratories and aquaculture producers. This meeting is key to consolidating alliances in a market that shares similar challenges with Chile and Ecuador in terms of export and health certification. In turn, it allows us to strengthen our international projection by showing a proposal Latin American technology competitive against major global players in the sector. From the line of Kura Biotech, we believe that collaboration with the Ecuadorian aquaculture industry will be a relevant step towards the standardization of rapid and sustainable methodologies of microbiological control, supporting the country's competitiveness in international markets," says Matías Encina, director of Product Strategy at Kura Biotech.
This trade mission to Ecuador promotes the internationalization of regional companies, strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting the sustainable development of the export sector. The AquaExpo Guayaquil 2025 trade fair brings together companies that present their innovative products and services for the aquaculture industry, consolidating itself as one of the main meetings of the sector in Latin America.
From the Los Lagos Region, in 2024, 25 aquaculture suppliers exported a total of US$ 27 million (+140.9%) to 25 markets, the main destinations being the United States (US$10 million), Panama (US$7 million) and Canada (US$1 million).
