The aim is to support producers in the transition from reactive management to proactive and demonstrable compliance with regulations.
In a context of increasing regulatory requirements and a greater emphasis on environmental traceability, the Regional Strategic Program (PER) of the Chilean Mussel, from Corfo, is calling for participation in the online and free workshop "SMA Inspection of Mussels", an initiative aimed at strengthening demonstrable environmental compliance in the mussel farming sector, especially in the Los Lagos Region,
The activity arises as a response to the need for producers to have clear and practical tools to face the verification processes of the Environmental Superintendence (SMA), understanding that regulatory compliance is a strategic axis of management and the operational continuity of companies in the sector.
The workshop is organized by PER Mejillón de Chile in collaboration with the consultants CERTES Ltda., specialized in aquaculture regulation, and ECOS Chile, experts in environmental management, with the aim of supporting producers in the transition from reactive management to proactive and demonstrable compliance control.
During the day, the application of the Environmental Compliance Strategy Guide of the SMA will be addressed, the identification of areas that require greater records and documentary support, as well as strategies for contingency management and the correct response to requests and inspections by the environmental authority.
Regarding this, Javier Aros, manager of PER Mejillón, stated that "the current scenario requires producers to be prepared and have clear evidence of their environmental compliance. This workshop aims to provide concrete tools to anticipate inspections, reduce risks and strengthen a responsible and sustainable management of mussel farming."
Training will take place on Wednesday 17 December, at 17:00 hours, will last one hour and will be held online and free of charge, facilitating participation from different territories. From Mejillón de Chile, an invitation was extended to all mussel farmers to join this training session.
