The tool was redesigned in a joint and collaborative effort between Profisur and Tramontina Brasil, through their representatives in Chile CPQualex, along with the technical advice of the Chilean Association of Safety (ACHS), it has, among other features, NSF certification. The new pincer is the result of almost two years of work and fits within Profisur's vision of being a sustainable, responsible and integrated supplier for the industry. salmon farming.
After one and a half years of joint work, the companies Profisur and TramontinaThey recently launched the white march of the new redesigned ergonomic pinching tool, developed in order to reduce musculoskeletal pathologies, increase the safety and well-being of the users, and enhance safety and hygiene in processing plants of the salmon industry.

This redesign was carried out with the continuous advice of the expert in ergonomics of the Chilean Association of Safety (ACHS)Yesenia Barrientos, who was responsible for reinforcing and ensuring the faithful compliance with technical, safety and comfort aspects, such as the non-slip handles, tension and optimal shape of the spring, weight and gripping capacity. Together with the professional from ACHS, in this first stage, a constant monitoring is being carried out that allows proactively detecting any instance of improvement.
Currently, the pincher is already being used in salmon processing plants, obtaining very good feedback and acceptance from the users, including the comfort of using it and the greater grip on the handle, especially considering the permanent contact with salmon fat.

“The development of this tool adds to the previous experience with Tramontina, when we redesigned together a knife with an ergonomic microtextured handle and high quality German steel, which has had an excellent reception in the processing plants, along with a new and improved way of doing things that has led us to professionalize the use, care and maintenance of this new set," Antonio Catalán, general manager of Profisur, highlighted.
The representative of the salmon processing company noted that “All of this work has been aimed at consolidating us as an integral, sustainable provider with a focus on the care and well-being of people who are part of the productive process and the fundamental link of the value chain in Chilean salmon farming.”

“Our Tramontina Fish & Meats line is the perfect mix of responsible, safe and sustainable innovation. We redesign tools under the concept of “Ecodesign”, so the only two components of this line of tools (polypropylene and stainless steel) are 100% recyclable and of absolute quality, designed to meet the high standards of such demanding industries, as is the case of the salmonicultor sector in Chile.” highlighted Volnei Cesar Nunes, sales manager of the Cutelaria Tramontina Brasil factory.
Focus on the well-being of people
“Caring for people is our purpose, so we accept the invitation of the Profisur team to be part of this redesign of manual tools, whose objective is the welfare of workers and the prevention of occupational diseases related to their functions.” emphasized Yesenia Marcela Barrientos Hijerra , specialist in Ergonomics of ACHS.
The professional adds that “together with the prevention and safety team, and from our area of ergonomics, we have accompanied from the beginning with technical advice, evaluations, among other normative support, to ensure the care of people and the optimization of their processes.” said the representative of the ACHS.
It should be noted that the strategic alliances, which have allowed the confluence of experience and knowledge of experts in various areas and subjects (production process, manufacturers, recycling, handicrafts, prevention and safety), have been the key to the success of this comprehensive proposal that Profisur currently leads in the Chilean salmon industry, so the objective is to continue the development of better tools and accessories provide workers with well-being and greater biosafety in processing plants.
