Reconnaissance seeks to identify, support with funding and make visible projects that are making a difference in the fight against climate change in the marine products industry.

Last Friday, January 17, Puerto Montt, was held the award ceremony for the winning projects of ACME Chile Climate Change Award 2024. This recognition, which has been delivered in our country since 2022, and is developed in the United States as Seafood Industry Climate Award, aims to identify, support with funding and visualize projects that are making a difference in the fight against climate change in the marine products industry.

ACME Chile’s general manager, Franco Adam, commented: “We are happy to be able to contribute to the development of initiatives that have as their main motivation a better future for all, and that work for the environment through the aspects that we evaluate in this award: innovation, implementation potential and scalability, in addition to the impact that it can generate in our industry and in our communities.”

The award categories were two: emerging and consolidated.

In the emerging category, the project Smart Reactorfocused on organic waste management with IoT sensors, you will receive $15,000 to invest in the development of your business. “We would like to thank ACME Chile and ACME Smoked Foundation, this award means a lot to us, because it will allow us to scale and validate this new technology,” said Diego Figueroa and Nicolás Arriaza, representatives of the initiative.

Moreover, in the consolidated category, the project Thermikhausdedicated to the production of thermal insulation from cardboard and recycled paper, you will receive USD $25,000. “I have only words of thanks, this award comes to strengthen even more and give us the conviction that we are on the right track towards a more sustainable industry,” said Andrea Optiz, representative of Thermikhaus. “I deeply thank ACME Chile and ACME Smoked Fish Foundation for this recognition that comes to push us even more to move forward.”

Both projects will also have the support of the consultant Greenticket in reducing their carbon footprint, and support from ACME Chile in actions that favor the implementation of the project, its link with the marine products industry, and its visibility.

In addition to receiving their awards, the winners made a visit to the plant, signed the prize agreements with ACME Chile and shared a lunch with members of the technical committee and the jury who participated in the selection process.
