A call that exceeded 60 people marked the third day of the Challenge program, an initiative promoted by the Aquaculture Innovation Club to bring suppliers closer to the main challenges, trends and opportunities facing salmon farming today.

On the other hand, the Executive Director of the Club Innovación Acuícola de Chile, Adolfo Alvial, made a presentation about the Club and at the end of the meeting pointed out that this is an unprecedented activity in the industry due to the size of the representation of Multi X and the Club itself. The participating entities demonstrated an extraordinary desire for collaboration in which Multi X through its different participating areas made known its work and the challenges that are relevant to innovation, and the Club, for its part, through its different companies, was presenting itself and pointing out the or the challenges of those who are within its scope and who could contribute to resolving. There was an exchange, a networking active during the breakand after that the parties expressed their widest satisfaction with the activity.

Subsequently, representatives of Multi X presented to the attendees the main focus of work of the company, addressing matters related to genetics and reproduction, production in freshwater and sea, processing, logistics, supply, maintenance, underwater robotics, infrastructure, animal welfare and technological transformation.
One of the aspects most appreciated by the attendees was the possibility of knowing first-hand the operational challenges faced by an international producer company, as well as the opportunities that arise from the constant search for efficiency, sustainability and innovation. Patricio Zúñiga, Operations Manager at Multi X, said that "the most valuable thing of these instances is that when we connect with suppliers and they understand the problem in depth, they come with solutions that really solve, with innovation and applied creativity where it is most needed. For our part, it is also key to keep up-to-date on the opportunities and services that exist out there. We are very grateful for this invitation.”

Among the topics addressed were the reduction of divers' dives through ROV technologies, the development of solutions for anchoring without human intervention, the implementation of artificial intelligence in productive and logistic processes, the incorporation of alternative energies, the optimization of the supply and traceability of loads, the continuous improvement in animal welfare and the search for new solutions for the control of Caligus.
In addition, the company presented challenges related to decarbonization of operations, process automation, energy efficiency, upgrading of floating infrastructure and strengthening of the supply chain, areas that represent development opportunities for multiple suppliers of the sector.
For the Club, these types of instances constitute a concrete tool to strengthen the link between producers and suppliers, allowing to generate conversations of high technical and strategic value around the real needs of the industry.
The high participation recorded during this third day confirms the growing interest that has aroused the Challenge program, that during 2026 has already had the participation of 2 representatives of Cermaq Chile, Rubén Álvarez, production manager and Berta Contreras, technical and supply chain director. In addition to other relevant participations in previous years such as Fernando Villarroel, general manager of Mowi.

The Club anticipated that the programme will continue over the coming months incorporating new production companies and strategic themes, with the aim of further strengthening collaboration, innovation and knowledge transfer within the national aquaculture ecosystem.
