During his presentation, the general manager of the Salmon Technology Institute (Intesal), Esteban Ramírez, referred to the blue economy and food, emphasizing the contribution that the productive sector has made to the region's growth.
Puerto Varas was the setting where representatives from the salmon, mussel, meat and milk industries came together to address the future of food production in the Los Lagos region. In the framework of Seminar "The Lakes, Food Power"", held at the Hotel Bellavista, the Salmon Technology Institute (Intesal) actively participated in the event, highlighting the role of salmon farming in the sustainable development of the southern region.
The event featured the participation of authorities such as the regional governor of Los Lagos, Alejandro Santana, as well as distinguished experts, who addressed various topics in talks and discussion panels. Alongside this, representatives of trade groups and companies analyzed the opportunities and challenges of the sector, promoting the exchange of knowledge and collaborative work between the different industries.

"We have a natural infrastructure, a natural wealth that allows us to be competitive, we also have the knowledge and that is why these activities are important, they are relevant and the regional government is committed to the productive activity of the Los Lagos Region," said the regional governor, Alejandro Santana.
During his presentation, the general manager of Intesal, Esteban Ramírez, referred to the blue economy -a economic model based on the sustainable use of marine resources- and food, emphasizing the contribution that salmon farming has made to the region's growth. "We value this opportunity very much. It is super important to see how all the sectors are showing their sustainability attributes. We talk about salmon as a" "example within the production at sea, that at sea we can produce nutritious and healthy proteins," said Ramírez.
For his part, the Technical Manager & Sustainability of Camanchaca, Alfredo Tello, said that “this initiative helps to generate awareness of the relevance of these industries not only to the national economy, but also to the global food system, which is a system that faces many challenges and needs to generate food for a very large world population. Therefore have a space to talk, to stand out the kindnesses, as well as the challenges we have as an industry, is very important and I believe that this seminar has been a success in that sense.”
The event allowed a space for discussion and analysis on the challenges facing the sector, promoting collaborative work among different industries to consolidate the Los Lagos region as a national and international food power. In addition, various salmon preparations were made during the day courtesy of La Harvesta del Mar.
