This advanced technology strengthens Chile's position on the international scientific map.

Recently, it was confirmed that the flow cytometer and spectral cell separator is Cytek Aurora has been introduced in Chile through the company Gene X-Press, specialist supplier of products for scientific and biotechnological research.

This modern equipment marks a milestone in biomedical and biotechnological research, as well as in clinical diagnosis, being - according to the information provided by the company - the team more austral in its type at Latin American level.

The Official presentation of the Cytek Aurora system was held at a ceremony in the Patrimonial Archive of the San Sebastián University (USS), headquarters of Patagonia, in the city of Puerto Montt, Los Lagos region. The forum was attended by academics and academics, researchers, members of the scientific community, representatives of Cytek Biosciencesbiotechnology companies linked to the aquaculture sector and professionals from the regional clinical area.

The acquisition of the Cytek Aurora system was accomplished through the Scientific and Technological Equipment Program (Fondequip) of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID).

Cytek Biosciences Business Development Manager for Latin America, Christian Leiva, introduced the team and highlighted the attributes of the Aurora system. "The Aurora Cytometer is a technological innovation designed with scientists in mind. It offers the ability to create profiles of full spectrum on a flexible and user-friendly platform, while providing the functionality of classification expected from a team of high-end. This team, unique in its kind in Latin America and the most southern in the world, represents a milestone for science in Chile," he emphasized.

The Dr. Maria Inés Barría, associate professor of the Faculty of Medicine and Sciences of the USS, and who leads the team that presented the ANID project, highlighted the impact of the arrival of this technology to the region: "The Spectral Cytek Citometer Aurora CS is vital for our research in immunology and will allow us to determine profiles and patterns in infectious diseases Viral. In addition, it will be key to the development of biotechnology in an area where the aquaculture industry has a preponderant role."

Gene X-Press general manager, Danilo Mihovilovichighlighted the company's commitment to science since its founding in 2001. "Our connection to the scientific world allows us to understand your needs and make available to you cutting-edge technologies like the Aurora Cytometer. This pioneering technology strengthens our leadership in the distribution of scientific and biotechnological products in southern Chile," he said.

The analysis system is already in operations in the Patagonian Laboratory located in the headquarters Puerto Montt of the USS. This team will be at the service of research on infectious diseases, cancer and ageing, and will open new opportunities for projects in aquaculture and biotechnology.

This advanced technology reinforces Chile’s position on the international scientific map, providing crucial tools to boost biotechnological research, development and innovation (R & D & I) in the region.
