The incorporation of a new investor will allow a Dryer Chile Scale in the necessary facilities to scale up their productive process, which through a circular economy model, allows to revalue the meat waste from the mussel farming industry.
Dryer, company that seeks to add value to the chilean mussel industrythrough its processes and products, has just added its first investor, which will allow the Startup to continue on the path of achieving productive scalability in the production of mussel flour with the development of its patented process.
Rodrigo Rubilar, manager of Dryer, comments that through this milestone it will be possible to have the necessary facilities to productively scale its innovative process, which through a circular economy model allows the by-products of the mussel farming industry to be revalued and obtain high nutritional value meals.
In a second instance, it will strengthen our strategy of projecting the installation of the process line related to the first stage of productive scaling, and where it is expected to advance by developing different innovations, both in processes and products that are expected to start at the end of the year. “So too, we are happy with the incorporation of Francisco, with whom we see a convergence of visions around business development with a positive impact and with a focus on sustainability and environmental care, as well as a synergy in principles and objectives,” Rubilar said.
The Dryer representative mentions the great contribution of having been recognized with the “Acme Chile Award for Climate Change”, which has shown the advances achieved by the company and the growth potential of the company, as well as the support of the Los Lagos Regional Innovation Center at the initial stage in the generation of networks.

“In ACME Chile we have an important commitment to companies that are motivated to contribute to a more sustainable industry and world through initiatives that stand out for their innovative proposals and long-term vision.” commented CEO of ACME Chile, Franco Adamadding that “we are proud that our first-place winners in 2023, Dryer, today are taking another step in this important challenge.”
For its part Alejandro Velásquez, Director of Innovation and Industries at the Los Lagos Regional Innovation Centre, he mentions “the importance for the regional aquaculture industry of existing companies like Dryer, which seek to add value to regional aquaculture proteins looking for their insertion in new markets, leaving installed capacity in the region, taking full advantage of the raw materials available and enhancing regional industrialization focused on the food industry that is an important characteristic of our territory”.
"We have been strongly promoting the circular economy in the mussel-producing sector, both initiatives and the reuse of waste from chorito plants not only contributes to environmental sustainability, but also offers significant economic, nutritional, social and technological benefits. Turning chorito waste into useful products, such as high nutritional value flour, significantly reduces the amount of waste generated and implementing these practices is essential to promote a more balanced and responsible development of our industry," said Javier Aros, manager of the Regional Strategic Program of the Mejillón, Corfo.
Boris Sepúlveda, Director of R & D at Dryer, says he is excited about the development of this associativeness that has been worked on for some time, and with this it is sought to accelerate the impact that we can make in an industry as relevant in the region, as is the cultivation of mussels for a first stage. “To date we have had different approaches with companies of the industry and we plan for the beginning of 2025 the start-up of the plant, advance in the development of new products, along with the announcement of our first strategic alliance,” Sepúlveda said.
By their part, Francisco Lazcano, entrepreneur of the Los Lagos region with various companiesmentions how interesting the initiative is that it can change the concept of how a product that has great nutritional benefits is consumed, and whose consumption in the country does not exceed 5% of national production, since the other 95% is exported. “It has been a discovery of the different types of application that can be made with mussel for the benefit of those who consume it, which made me join the team, since not just It is beneficial for health, but it can also have a positive impact on the environment,” said Lazcano.
