During the meeting, focused on field staff involved in the implementation of treatments, it is expected to provide concrete tools and unify criteria that will allow progress towards better control of Caligidosis in local salmon farming.
Sealice Partners - Chilean company that was born in 2025 as a new specialized services alternative for the evaluation and monitoring of solutions against Caligidosis, as well as various R&D activities - is organizing the seminar Tools to ensure good practices and effectiveness in anti-parasitic treatments, which will take place on 19 May at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel, Puerto Montt (Los Lagos region).
The activity aims to promote the use of good practices in the control of the parasite Caligus rogercresseyi, which represents one of the main health challenges of Chilean salmon farming, as well as providing technical support by unifying criteria to minimize operational failures, health risks and productive losses.
Similarly, it is expected to contribute to the salmon farming industry with technical information that will allow extending the shelf life of existing products in the market to treat Caligidosis and to generate opportunities for interaction and collaboration between producers, suppliers and technical bodies as main actors in the implementation of these treatments.

The event is specifically directed to professionals and field technicians who are in constant contact with the fish and are responsible for supervising, executing and/or implementing the anti-parasitic treatments. This group includes: centre managers and assistants, health departments, veterinary doctors from farming centres, production departments and supervisors, treatment supervisors, bath squad personnel and those related to these areas.
The CEO of Sealice Partners, María Isabel Pizarrostresses that “effective control of caligus requires a comprehensive approach. There are many key procedures and steps in the administration of therapies that can be optimized in order to achieve greater effectiveness of the different alternatives available. With this seminar we hope to offer practical tools and unify criteria that allow us to make a leap towards a better management of the parasite.”
Various topics
The meeting will address various topics that affect the proper administration of therapies, including lectures related to: good practices, protocols, methodologies and critical and safety variables in antiparasitic treatments; optimization of treatments in continuous flow; oxygenation in therapies via bathroom; key points in treatments with hydrogen peroxide; good practices in oral treatments; technical management of natural additives; and interaction between branchial pathologies and antiparasitic treatments, among others.
The representative of Sealice Partners says that “we are addressing critical issues for successful field treatment that we believe will provide technical tools to the personnel responsible for applying them. It will be an excellent opportunity to learn about strategies that can make a difference in terms of results, as well as to analyze together both the challenges and those practices that can be most favorable.”
The seminar “Tools to ensure good practices and effectiveness in antiparasitic treatments” is sponsored by Aqua Pharma, SalmoClinic, Imenco Aqua, Virbac and Aquanativa. In addition, it is sponsored by ADL Diagnostic Chile, TEKBios, the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Favet) of the University of Chile, the Institute of Aquaculture and the Environment of the Universidad Austral de Chile and the Aquaculture Innovation Club of Chile.
