Throughout the country there are 138 establishments that have a valid Blue Seal.
As every year, between the 1st and 31st of December the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) opens a new phase of application so that commercial establishments of marine products and resources can join the Responsible Consumption Program "Blue Seal" in 2025. The purpose of this is to issue a certification to the premises that commit to sustainability complying with the fisheries and aquaculture regulations, since in this way consumers are ensured that the marine resources and products they commercialize have a legal origin.
"The Blue Seal, this accreditation we give to establishments that sell marine resources, helps consumers to distinguish and choose those stores that comply with the fishing regulations, that enter our resource traceability system which records their sources of supply and accredits the authorizations granted by different entities," said Soledad Tapia Almonacid, National Director of Sernapesca.

The authority added that "this is why we invite all those who market sea products and resources to join this initiative and obtain this label, which allows the public to easily know that the establishment where they buy or consume sea products is committed to the sustainability of our resources."
Throughout the country there are 138 establishments that have a valid Blue Seal. Who can apply for this program? Natural and legal persons who market hydrobiological resources or seafood products of their own manufacture, who are registered in the Sernapesca traders list, or those who meet the conditions and requirements for entry.
Those requirements are:
- Have initiation of activities before the Internal Revenue Service.
- To have the respective sanitary and municipal authorizations.
- Have one year of validity in the activity.
- Not to have been punished in the three years prior to the application for infringements of fisheries and aquaculture regulations, among others.
The application can be made through Sernapesca’s website, by clicking on the banner “Blue Seal” or on this link (https://www.sernapesca.cl/programas/programa-de-consumo-responsable-sello-azul), filling out the form that is available for this purpose and submitting the corresponding documentation. Those who obtain the certification, after an analysis of the background presented, will have a foliated seal visible to the public, which realizes that care is being taken to give security to the community around the legal origin of the resources and products of the sea. In addition, they will be part of the register available on the website of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service and the map of premises with Blue Seal.
The invitation is to the establishments to apply and not miss the opportunity to join the select group of establishments that have joined the Blue Seal Program, demonstrating their commitment to responsible fishing.
