This year, 15 students from different communes in the Los Lagos region, including rural areas, have access to specialization programmes that strengthen regional talent and expand opportunities for training of excellence outside major urban centres.
In a concrete boost to the decentralization of knowledge and technical training of excellence, 15 outstanding students of the Middle Technical Vocational Education (EMTP) of the Region of Los Lagos, recognized for their performance and academic commitment, acceded to scholarships awarded by the association of chefs Les Touches Blanches. The ceremony, held at INACAP Puerto Montt, reinforces the partnership between education and the productive sector to expand opportunities for specialization in the region and strengthen the talent that drives local development.
Thanks to the strategic alliance with SalmonChile, through its program Salmon from Chile, The initiative has been implemented for the second consecutive year. This collaboration reaffirms the industry's commitment to regional development and the formation of the future ambassadors of Chilean cuisine. The programme, which is part of SalmonChile’s long-term vision, seeks to boost talent in the region, allowing young people from various communes — including rural areas with limited access to specialized education — to have access to opportunity to become representatives of national gastronomy, using salmon as a key actor that symbolizes both Chile and the southern part of the country.
“The alliance between Salmón de Chile and Les Toques Blanches is part of our long-term vision to train talent in the region. It reflects our commitment to the sustainable development of the communities where we operate, promoting quality education and the promotion of our products in national gastronomy,” said Francisco Renner, Director of Communications of SalmonChile. “Chilean salmon is an ambassador of our culture culinary, and supporting these young talents means investing in the future of the country’s gastronomy,” he says.
The program, which celebrates 22 years at the national level, will benefit these young people with the entry to the Gastronomy career and a valuable accompaniment throughout their training process. The ceremony began a cycle of master classes, where students participated in regional, Chilean, Pastry and Regional Dessert workshops. At the same time, teachers received training on the pedagogical use of intelligence Artificial. This initiative seeks to train the future ambassadors of Chilean cuisine, using salmon as a key actor representing both Chile and the southern part of the country.
Students who successfully complete the cycle of Master Classes and enrol in Higher Education will receive their full kitchen uniform, technical shoes and a set of utensils needed for their training. In addition, those who get the best results of the process, graded by notes, will receive notebooks, iPads, tablets, backpacks and professional knives.
“We are convinced that talents are spread throughout Chile. In the region of Los Lagos, thanks to an alliance with Salmón Chile and Inacap headquarters Puerto Montt, we have been able to develop for the second year this project that is starting today with 15 talented young people, who will be the replacement of the new generation of chefs who will develop our Chilean cuisine, heritage and culture from now on,” said Eugenio Melo, president of Les Touches Blanches.
For his part, Cristián Osorio, vice-rector of INACAP Sede Puerto Montt, thanked the actors for their efforts and collaboration. “The contribution of Les Toques Blanches, who today make it possible for these young people to fulfill their dreams at the hand of our Institution, which opens the doors to them and commits to train them with excellence.”
Les Toques Blanches has been offering these scholarships since 2003, allowing more than 400 young people in the country to continue their gastronomic training in higher education institutions. One of these is Nicole Rauque, who, through her testimony, reflected the positive impact the opportunity had for her. “This scholarship is an honor that I treasure deeply and I can honestly say that it changed my life, not only was it an economic support, but it gave me a vocational impulse, allowed me to believe in myself, dream big and start creating a real life project.” This year, the program will benefit 86 students in the Metropolitan, Maule and Los Lagos regions.
The Los Lagos Region has an important presence of the salmon industry, which contributes significantly to local economic development. This partnership between the productive and educational sectors reaffirms SalmonChile's commitment to the formation of specialized human capital and to the promotion of Chilean salmon as a world-class product in national and international cuisine.
