Between the 1st and the 30th of June 2024 will be available applications to be part of the Responsible Consumption Program "Blue Seal" National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca). This badge accredits establishments that are committed to sustainability and compliance with fisheries and aquaculture regulations, ensuring to consumers that the resources of that establishment are of legal origin.
The marketing centers of resources and products of the sea that want to obtain the Blue Seal, must prove the fulfillment of a series of requirements, such as: to supply suppliers that have accreditation of legal origin; to have valid authorizations at both municipal and health level, not to have been punished for violation of the Law on Fisheries and Aquaculture, among others.

In this call can also participate the centers of retail consumption as restaurants and hotels through a more expeditious way, being able to receive an accreditation by extension, provided that they supply some marketer of products of the sea that is accredited with Blue Seal.
“The Blue Seal is a commitment to go beyond obligations to contribute to the care of hydrobiological resources. This is why we invite all those who market products and resources of the sea to join this initiative and obtain this seal, which allows citizens to know with ease that the establishment where they buy or consume products of the sea is committed to the sustainability of our resources,” he said. Soledad Tapia, National Director of Sernapesca.

The premises that meet the requirements and are selected to be part of the Blue Seal program, will receive a leaf seal that will be placed in their premises in a place visible to the public, in addition to becoming part of the registry available on the website of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service and the map of premises with Blue Seal.
