Representatives of salmon farming highlighted the importance of this activity at a local and national level, as well as invited the authority to visit the fish farms.

The Chilean Salmon Industry Association A.G. (SalmonChile), together with the operations manager of Aqua Smolt, Nelson Pardo, and the RSE head of Salmones Captrén, Victor Forcael, met with the regional ministerial secretary (seremi) of Economy, Development and Tourism of La Araucanía, Nelson Curiñir, to present the functioning and importance of salmon farming both in the south-southern macrozone and at the national level.

During the session, the authority showed interest in developing collaborative public-private partnerships to boost the productive sector, as well as to better understand the challenges and opportunities surrounding the fish farms located along the region.

The territorial representative of SalmonChile in La Araucanía, Ricardo López, stated: "We appreciate the willingness of the seremi to be able to talk more with us and to get to know in depth what the industry does in this region and the importance it has in its large value chain. For us it is important to create these approaches to work together and boost the local economy, which is fundamental for the good operation of both parts"

Similarly, Ricardo López said they hope to receive him in the fish farms, "so that he can learn about the reproductive cycle of salmon farming that is born here, to later reach more than a hundred markets around the world".
