A positive first quarter of 2024 had exports from the Los Lagos region. The increase of 1.3%, compared to the same period of the previous year, was mainly driven by the aquaculture sector, with the United States, Japan and Brazil being its main destinations. The South American giant is a permanent challenge that continues to open new opportunities for exporting or potential exporting companies.

To identify potential new businesses in that country's market, a delegation of representatives of companies providing goods and services from the region's aquaculture industry travelled to Brazil thanks to the management of ProChile. “The experience of years, which they have achieved in the development of Chilean salmon farming today represents a great competitive advantage to offer innovative and technological solutions, for example in the growing tilapia that increases in this country, being among the five largest global producers,” said Ricardo Arriagada, regional director of ProChile Los Lagos.

Within the framework of the fair Aaquishow 2024, the delegation made up of companies Inchalam, Keepex, Indumetal, HDPE Solutions and Patagonia ROV, they had the opportunity to hold business meetings and networking, as well as to know the fish farming of the company Ambar Amaral in Santa Fe del Sur, northern region of the state of Sao Paulo. There they met with key actors from the Brazilian aquaculture sector and explored opportunities to apply national technological solutions in an expanding market for this freshwater fish.

“It has been a rather interesting experience. We have been able to know how the production of tilapia works and confirm that the technology we use in Chile, such as underwater robotics and the study of the environment, can be replicated in Brazil. We are happy to see that our solutions are applicable and grateful to ProChile for the opportunity to present our company and establish business relations,” he said. Alex Perez, manager de Patagonia ROV.

The visit also allowed companies such as Inchalam and its aquaculture division, represented by Gonzalo Ceaidentify new opportunities for collaboration and growth. “The opportunities offered by this country, which leads a strong path towards the development of freshwater aquaculture and now also in the marine arena, are still exciting. The opportunities are multiplied thanks to the support of ProChile, which facilitates platforms and contacts essential for our work here in Brazil,” Cea said.

Valeria Mancilla from HDPE Solutions, he emphasized the importance of this interaction: “At Aaquishow we identify opportunities to provide safe boats for the Paraná River. Thanks to the support and local knowledge of ProChile, we can offer solutions tailored to the specific needs of this new market.”

Collaboration between aquaculture companies in both countries offers increasing mutual benefits by enhancing the exchange of knowledge and business. Undoubtedly, a positive balance of the Chilean presence in Aaquishow 2024 since the technological and innovation solutions of the national aquaculture have even more possibilities of export to the Brazilian market that is focused mainly on tilapia, in a trajectory of growth and modernization.
