The entity will be chaired by the businessman and chief executive officer of Finalcut Ltda., Jorge Cassigoli.
The Metalworking and Metal Mechanics Industries Association (Asimet) announced the opening of the Asimet Los Lagos Regional Committee during a dinner held in the city of Puerto Varas, and which was presided over by the head of the guild, Dante Arrigoni.
At the meeting attended the regional ministers (seremis) of Government, Luz Gloria Torres; of Economy, Luis Cárdenas; of Labour, Ángel Cabrera; and of Energy, Liliana Alarcón, among other regional authorities, as well as representatives of the 23 partner companies that make up this new committee, which will be chaired by the businessman and chief executive officer of Finalcut Ltda., Jorge Cassigoli.
At the occasion, Dante Arrigoni stated that for Asimet "this is a historical event and the fulfillment of a great aspiration that has been worked on for several years: to extend the union's presence throughout the national territory".
And added: "We already had an important presence in the Biobío Region, with a Regional Committee that in a few years has managed to position itself as a solid reference for the metalworking and mechanical sector in that area. Now, with the start of operations of the Asimet Los Lagos Regional Committee, we are moving towards the consolidation of a union force with increasing influence in the southern part of our country."
At the same time, Arrigoni commented that the sustained growth of the metallurgical and mechanical industry activity in the Los Lagos area warranted that Asimet consider the challenge of creating a Regional Committee that could more personally accommodate its companies. "The main objective of this new body is for members to consider it a place of support in the face of their difficulties, and also a place of meeting between you, a" true home to turn to, mainly because nothing is better than understanding each other among peers, because we are entrepreneurs, and speak the same language," he stated.
Later, the union leader emphasized that, in recent years, the union has become the voice of the manufacturing industry in Chile, and has fulfilled the mission of demonstrating, through various studies, the great impact it has on the economies of countries, and the benefits it generates in societies at all levels worldwide, mainly in terms of employment and innovation.
"From these studies have emerged proposals that we have presented to the various authorities that have governed Chile in recent years. And with much optimism, despite the complex scenarios we face today, I can say to you that our Productive Development Strategy is today the cornerstone of the Manufacturing Table on which we are working together with the Ministry of Economy to promote, in the shortest time frame, policies that promote this very important sector of the economy," he said.
In this regard, he argued that "today the State has to take charge of the main concern of Chileans: public security, and in the political sphere, to complete without further delay the constitutional process, by drafting a text that provides the basis for returning to progress. But, he added, beyond solving these immediate problems, policies aimed at stimulating savings, investment and investment are needed. productivity, fundamental requirements to increase Chile's potential growth. Without higher and sustained growth, it will be very difficult to advance the provision of social rights that we aspire to for all Chileans," he said.
Finally, the union leader highlighted Asimet's commitment "to accompany the partners of the Los Lagos Region in the complex economic scenario facing the country today, giving them support, advice, and representing them before the authorities."
