This joint effort also aims to expand the re-use capacity of aquaculture-specific plastic materials.

As part of its sustainability strategy and commitment to keep beaches and territories clean next to its operations, Multi X has signed a collaboration agreement with Sociedad Comercial y Pesquera Aysén, a local enterprise dedicated to the collection and recycling of inorganic waste.

To date, Multi X and the Aysén Commercial and Fisheries Society have carried out three cleaning days on Marcacci Island, which is located on Darwin Canal, rescuing a total of 120 tons of inorganic waste. Of these, a significant percentage will be processed to later have a second life in the production of plastic elements.

The manager of People, Sustainability and Corporate Affairs of Multi X, Francisco Lobos, emphasized that sustainability should be at the center of the business, defining commitments that guide the paths of companies. "One of them is to contribute to economic development and value generation for the regions in which we are present, both from the direct recruitment of people, and in support of local suppliers, participating, For example, in circular economy initiatives. Likewise, the respect and preservation of the spaces in which our activity takes place is one of our main motivators, and we report it every year in our Sustainability Report," said Lobos.

The company Sociedad Comercial y Pesquera Aysén was founded by Katia Inostroza and her family, and was born from the vision of artisanal fishers and fishermen to convert their activities to the provision of services to the aquaculture industries. Currently, it employs 30 people directly and has boats for the collection and transfer of waste, a collection centre and machinery for the crushing of plastic waste.

"The installed capacity that Katia and her family have achieved allows us to have a strategic partner in the collection, categorization and recycling of inorganic waste resulting from activity in salmon growing centers, so that, beyond complying with what the norm and authority establishes, it gives us the possibility to advance towards the recovery and recycling of our inorganic waste in the area of Farming", stressed Francisco Lobos.

For her part, Katia Inostroza valued Multi X's support in the development of projects that aim to recycle and reuse waste: "From the Commercial Society and Pesquera Aysén we appreciate the initiative of Multi X, because without its vision towards sustainability and the development of a circular economy in the regions where they are present, enterprises like ours could not exist".
