Advances in innovation, applied research and the potential of cultivating new raw materials for salmon nutrition will be presented. In addition, a keynote lecture on the subject will be given.
With the aim of highlighting advances in innovation and sustainability within the aquaculture industry, the Technological Program for the Local Production of Vegetable Nutritional Inputs for Aquaculture (PTEC-INVA) will be part of the next version of the International Fair AquaSur, which will take place between March 24 and 26 of this year at the level of kilometer 1009 of Route 5 South, on the border of the communes of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas, in the Los Lagos region (click here to see the exact location on the map)
This Technological Programme co-funded by the Corporation for the Promotion of Production of Chile (Corfo) and led by Antarctic Salmon will have a featured space at the E-19 stand of the Veterinary Histopathology Center (VeHiCe), co-executive entity of the PTEC-INVA, from where the main ones will be announced milestones achieved Research, Development and Innovation (R & D & I) aimed at strengthening the use of plant inputs in aquaculture food, especially for the production of Atlantic salmon (Atlantic salmon) and rainbow trout (Rainbow trout).
The manager of PTEC-INVA, Dr Daniel Nieto Díaz-MuñozHe stressed that participation in AquaSur represents a strategic opportunity to bring science and innovation closer to industry. “Our goal is to show how the development of nutritional inputs of plant origin produced right here in Chile can contribute to more resilient, efficient and sustainable aquaculture. This Technology Program seeks laying the foundations for a new value chain linking agriculture to salmon farming,” he emphasized.
From VeHiCe, your Business Development Manager, Matías Vera Gaedickehighlighted the relevance of sharing these advances in which the aquaculture meeting is considered most important of the southern hemisphere.

“AquaSur is a key display case to demonstrate the collaborative work that we are promoting together with all the entities involved in the PTEC-INVA,” said Matías Vera, adding that what is sought is that the attendees “know how applied research and technological innovation can generate concrete solutions for the current challenges of industry.”
To these visions is added that of the manager of Scientific and Technical Research in Aquaculture Nutrition of VeHiCe, César Martínez Gutiérrez, who removed the disruptive approach that the company has been driving in recent years.
“In VeHiCe we have broken traditional paradigms of aquaculture nutrition, moving towards precision indicators which integrate the metabolism and resilient physiology of fish. Today we work with predictive models based on subclinical indicators of standard high, which allows us to anticipate productive scenarios and design nutritional solutions more efficient and sustainable“ He explained. ”
Talks
As part of the activities planned during the fair, VeHiCe and PTEC-INVA will give a masterful talk open to all the public who are interested in deepen your knowledge on the effect of these raw materials present in the salmon farming ecosystem for the formulation of diets.
This exhibition will address key themes related to the development of raw materials plants for the nutrition of salmonids, as well as the most recent developments in R & D & i that the PTEC-INVA and VeHiCe are promoting in the field of aquaculture health and productivity.
“The challenge is to generate open and collaborative knowledge that allows speeding up adoption sustainable solutions in industry. For this reason, we wanted this talk to be an open invitation for everyone who wants to join this conversation,” added Matías Vera.
Virtuous triangle
The joint presence of PTEC-INVA and VeHiCe in AquaSur 2026 seeks to strengthen the diffusion of initiatives that promote productive diversification and technological development from the southern zone towards the rest of the country and the world, positioning Chile as a benchmark in aquaculture innovation based on sustainability and local production of strategic inputs.
In addition, it will highlight the full importance of public-private-academic initiatives (the so-called virtuous triangle), since the PTEC-INVA is driven by Corfo, has the leadership of Antarctic Salmon and its co-executive entities are, in addition to VeHiCe, the Agricultural Research Institute (INIA), the Food Technology Innovation Center (CeTA), holding Agrotop and the universities of Chile (University of Chile) and Catholic University of Temuco (UCT).
