The Milodón platform arrived on Friday 6 June at the Bobe Center of Mowi, where it will be located to operate sustainably, allowing a reduction of almost 9 tonnes of CO2 annually.
From this Friday 6 June, the pontoon "Milodón" of Mowi Chile is already in its destination (Bobe cultivation centre, Aysén region), a 600-ton floating device built by Astilleros Detroit of Puerto Montt. The start-up of the Milodón represents an important milestone for the salmon farming company in terms of energy innovation and use of sustainable technology for national aquaculture.
This is the first barge that integrates a hybrid energy system, combining diesel generation with lithium batteries (BESS), with a capacity of 430 kWh. In addition, it is equipped with solar panels that can generate up to 5 kWh per day.

This allows the device to operate for more than 10 hours without fossil fuels, helping to reduce nearly nine tonnes of CO₂ per year. The Milodón is the second hybrid barge in Mowi's fleet, (with "El Gaucho"). Both devices are added to other two infrastructures that use battery banks.

The new pontoon has 41.4 meters in length, 12.1 meters in width and 3.5 meters in draft. Regarding its fuel capacity, it is 30,000 liters, while it is able to store 20,000 liters of fresh water.

In addition, it has an 8-line AKVA Group feeding system, with 8 food silos each of 75 tonnes, totaling 600 tonnes of capacity. Regarding its accommodation for staff, it reaches a capacity for 20 people.
