Organizations seek through the certification of occupational competencies to recognize the experience, knowledge and skills that people develop in these activities in the Los Lagos Region and other regions of the country where this activity is carried out.
A full year since a agreement was signed between ChileValora and the Salmon Council to create occupational profiles in the salmon farming industry, both entities presented today the result of that work in the coastal town of Huenquillahue, 25 km from Puerto Montt. It is the three new occupational profiles to certify the work competencies of workers who carry out tasks as Aquatic Diver. Operator/Operator of Rovs (vehicle controlled by operator) and Feeder/Feeder.
With this, both ChileValora and the Salmon Council aim through the certification of occupational competencies to recognize the experience, knowledge and skills that people develop in these activities in the Los Lagos Region and other regions of the country where this activity is carried out.
The presentation of the job profiles was held this Wednesday at the Aquachile Diving School, in Huenquillahue, Los Lagos Region, and were present the regional presidential delegate, Paulina Muñoz; the regional minister of Labour and Social Security, Ricardo Ebner; the executive director of ChileValora, Ximena Rivillo; the executive president of the Salmon Council, Loreto Seguel; the vice president of the board of ChileValora, Andrea Marchant; and the president of the National Confederation of Salmon Workers (Contrasal), John Hurtado. In addition to representatives from the salmon farming companies and workers associated with the sector unions.
The presidential delegate of the Los Lagos Region, Paulina Muñoz, stated that "as a government we value the commitment of the public-private alliance that has been made here to address the certification of the workers in salmon farming."
the main objective of creating these occupational profiles was to develop and establish labor competency standards, specifically adapted to the salmon farming industry in Chile, in close collaboration with the productive sector. These standards, validated by the industry, have the fundamental purpose of improving human capital development in salmon farming, ensuring that workers have the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their functions in a competent and safe manner, which significantly contributes to the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the industry at national and international level.
This is how the executive director of ChileValora, Ximena Rivillo, expressed it, pointing out that "the salmon industry is 10 per cent of our country's GDP, therefore it has to be a competitive industry. That is why ChileValora, which maintains permanent social dialogue with the productive sectors, has carried out this process to develop these profiles that allow recognizing what their workers know how to do. Today we can advance in the productive development of the sector with the certification of the workers. Human capital is strengthened and also the salmon farming companies, increasing their competitiveness and productivity.
The creation of the new profiles included a process to identify and detail the specific competences that each of them must have. This stage was carried out by a sectoral body convened by ChileValora with specialized members from the business, state and workers' world, through the tripartite social dialogue characteristic of this public service which depends on the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
