The meeting between representatives of ProChile and the president of the guild, Patricio Melero, defined joint strategies that include the promotion of Chilean salmon in the United States, the integration of suppliers in international actions and the reinforcement of content on innovation and sustainability for the entire commercial network.
SalmonChile and ProChile held a coordination meeting to strengthen the international positioning strategies of Chilean salmon, one of the country's main export products. The meeting, led by the president of SalmonChile, Patricio Melero, and executives from ProChile, allowed the definition of joint work lines that will enhance the presence of Chilean salmon in priority markets.
During the day it was agreed to expand the Sector Brand work, actively incorporating the American market as a strategic axis for the promotion of national salmon. This agreement represents a significant milestone, considering that the United States constitutes one of the most important destinations for the sector's exports.
"We have defined a clear roadmap with ProChile that will allow us to strengthen our presence in the United States, a fundamental market for our industry. This coordinated work will enhance the differentiating attributes of Chilean salmon, highlighting its quality, sustainability and high production standards that characterize our sector," said Patricio Melero, president of SalmonChile.
An innovative aspect of this coordination is the integration of aquaculture providers in international promotion actions, which will allow expanding the sectoral story beyond the final product, highlighting the entire value chain that makes salmon production in the country possible.
The meeting also addressed the importance of positioning innovation as a competitive attribute of the sector, highlighting emblematic initiatives such as the Patagonia Hub and the Yelcho project, aimed at research and development in key areas such as next-generation vaccines.
"Innovation and technological development are differentiating factors of Chilean salmon in international markets. The initiatives we are promoting in applied research and biotechnology allow us to offer a product that meets the highest global standards," added Melero.
From ProChile's side, significant advances were reported in the context of the Brazilian tax reform and the efforts made to include salmon in the basic basket of that country, which could generate a positive impact on the consumption of the Chilean product in one of the most important emerging markets in the region.
Another of the agreements reached was the reinforcement of technical and reputational content for the network of 51 commercial offices of ProChile around the world, updating relevant information on product, processes, sustainability, traceability and quality of Chilean salmon.
