Locations that are selected will receive a stamped seal that must be installed in a visible place, and will become part of the official register on the Sernapesca website and the national map of establishments with the Blue Seal.
From June 1 to 30, the call will be open to join the Responsible Consumption Program "Sello Azul" of the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca). This accreditation recognizes establishments committed to sustainable fishing and compliance with current regulations, ensuring consumers that the resources of that establishment are of legal origin.
The centers that market marine resources or products and wish to obtain the Blue Seal must meet a series of requirements, such as, for example: sourcing from suppliers with legal origin accreditation, having up-to-date health and municipal permits, and not having been sanctioned for violations of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Law, among others.

In addition, in this call for applications, restaurants, hotels and other retail consumption centers can also apply through a more direct method: extension accreditation. This will be possible as long as they are supplied exclusively by suppliers that already have the Blue Seal.
"Blue Seal is a commitment to go beyond obligations to contribute to the care of aquatic resources. We invite all those who market products and marine resources to join this initiative and obtain this seal. Thus, the public can easily identify those places where to buy or consume with the peace of mind of supporting the sustainability of our resources," said María José Gutiérrez, Coordinator of the Program at Sernapesca.
The premises that are selected will receive a stamped seal that must be installed in a visible place, and will become part of the official register on the Sernapesca website and the national map of establishments with a Blue Seal. From Sernapesca, consumers are also encouraged to find out about the origin of the seafood products they buy, and to always prefer local places with the Blue Seal. It is a clear and reliable way to support the legality and sustainability of our marine resources.
